4 Must-Visit Gardens In Nevada

Nevada in the summer is an amazing place to be and as always has a lot to offer. Like heading to a lake for some relaxation. Or spending the day enjoying one of the local museums. No matter what you’re looking for, there is always something that you can do. But with the warmer weather just around the corner, sometimes it’s fun to check out a few of the stunning gardens Reno has to offer. If you don’t know where to look this season, then we’ve got you covered.

Today, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite places to go when you’re looking for the best summer gardens. Remember to check weather conditions and if places are open before heading on out. 1) Wilbur D. May Arboretum

Visiting the Wilbur D. May Arboretum is a truly magical experience. Located at the University of Nevada, Reno, you’ll find the garden is ever growing to create an even better experience. With a diverse plant community that offers beautiful garden layouts and foliage changing with the seasons. Along with some amazing and fun opportunities for all ages to explore and learn.

2) Rose Garden at Idlewild Park

With one acre of Rose Garden, there is so much to see when you visit the park. You’ll find over 200 varieties of roses and over 1,750 total roses. Making this a truly spectacular experience. The gardens last all summer, though peak seasons happen in both late June/early July and late August. While you’re there, be sure to check out the Public Art piece depicting a Rose Waterfall.

3) Valley Wood Park Wildlife Gardens

Within the Valley Wood Park is 8 themed gardens, known as the Valley Wood Wildlife Gardens. These gardens have native and pollinator-friendly plants that thrive in the semi-desert climate. Which makes this a lovely place to explore and enjoy the beauty that Nevada has to offer. Not only are these gardens a stunning place to enjoy, it’s also designed to bring more native pollinators to the gardens, making this a truly magical experience.

4) Dandini Gardens

Dandini Gardens are located in the Truckee Meadows Community College. The small tribute garden offers a few small paths to follow to see statues and read a couple of plaques. The gardens also offer a stellar view of greater Reno. This is the perfect stop to enjoy the beauty Reno has to offer, while enjoying the quiet, secluded area.
